OUR STORY
Designed by renowned Island architect William Critchlow Harris and originally built for a prominent local family with ties to the region’s maritime history, the home has evolved over time while maintaining its original character and presence.
In later years, it was thoughtfully converted into an inn by Jay and Carol MacDonald, creating a place that has welcomed guests for decades. Today, Elmwood continues to be quietly stewarded with a focus on comfort, character, and a true sense of place.
Located on a quiet, tree-lined property in one of Charlottetown’s most loved residential neighbourhoods, Elmwood offers a peaceful stay just a 10 to 15 minute walk from the downtown core. Guests can easily explore restaurants, shops, galleries, and the waterfront, while Victoria Park is only a few blocks away with its boardwalk, trails, and green spaces.
Charlottetown sits at the heart of Prince Edward Island, making Elmwood an ideal base for exploring the Island. Many of PEI’s renowned beaches are within a short and easy drive, while the city itself is celebrated for its walkability, charm, and relaxed pace.
